Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. She is also a television anchor. She graduated with an undergraduate degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing to be a part of New York City. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was made general correspondent by NBC News two year later. In 1981 began working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the the chief correspondent for foreign affairs at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was panelists on the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell also participated as a panelist in the debates in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell won the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 from the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan in office from 1981 to 1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of the President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
