Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th in 1991. She's an American musician and singer. She was the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first studio album on 7 May 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet back in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. In 2014 she continued to release her music on the web, including her own released single Bound. In July of 2015, she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to perform on Rihanna reference. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on December 8th. Backseat was her contribution to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. The 21st of October, 2016, she dropped her debut EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and performed as an opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox performed on two tracks by EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. On the 16th of July in 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single on February 26, 2019, for her debut album of the same title. In February her music video to the track debuted. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views within a week. As a supporting act she performed in concert with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
